German tax objection deadline calculator

Free calculator under sections 122, 355 and 108 of the German Fiscal Code (AO), 2026 rules with the four-day notification fiction.

Enter the date printed at the top of your tax assessment (Steuerbescheid). The calculator shows by when your objection (Einspruch) must have reached the Finanzamt.

How the calculator works

  • An assessment sent by post counts as notified on the fourth day after posting (section 122(2) no. 1 AO, since 2025). If that day falls on a weekend or a nationwide public holiday, it moves to the next working day.
  • The objection period is one month after notification (section 355 AO).
  • If the deadline falls on a weekend or public holiday, it ends on the next working day (section 108(3) AO).
The calculator uses the nationwide German public holidays. State holidays can only extend the real deadline, never shorten it, so the date shown is the safe side. No guarantee, no tax advice.
